When it comes to photography, the images can either be dull and uninteresting or thought-provoking and amazing. This is especially true for striking portraits, which require a combination of ingredients to truly captivate the viewer. To keep your readers engaged, it's important to explore different angles within the story and have creative conversations with photographers. A well-composed and beautifully lit portrait can evoke strong emotions in the viewer, well composed, beautifully lit, visually uncluttered and that is until now!!This week, we are excited to announce that we will be using a new location for our portraiture shoot. Regardless of the weather, our new site is covered, and we are confident that you will be pleased with the top light effect created by its large skylights, but most of all the walls of the location are the best graffiti you will find anywhere in the city.As an added bounce we will also visit the Digbeth Community Gardens just up the road and off Shaw's passage Birmingham B5 5TH.

Street art is a unique and colorful art form and can be found in all kinds of nooks and crannies in cities all over the world. Capturing art in the streets in photographs can be tricky because these urban art pieces are in public spaces, that are busy and usually filled with a decent amount of traffic. Sometimes you include the people and sometimes, you get super heros!!!

I usually like to paint on location but this day was far too cold. I took the photo to paint in my studio but stood there for a good 30 minutes to soak up the atmosphere so I could try to capture it. It was absolutely freezing and I lost the feeling in my fingers and nose. This painting is done using pure pigment watercolours by AJ Ludlow colours

I took up oil painting after retiring from the the NHS. Bournville looks stunning on a snowy day when the sun is shining. I worked this from a photo I took when the light was perfect. The colours of snow are magical. It is never white. The perspective on the Rest house is quite challenging!

Lincoln?s High Bridge is a well-known landmark, often photographed and occasionally painted. However, it was the industrial scenes and the lesser-seen rear of the bridge that captivated me. While crowds gathered at the waterfront pubs along the front, I found a quiet charm in the stillness behind, where swans drifted peacefully through the evening blue.

As a charcoal (amateur) artist and mainly portraiture, I was challenged by an experienced artist friend to move to colour. I tried acrylic but quickly moved to oils. I guess it was the challenge by my friend who painted with oils and the fact that he wouldn?t settle for anything less. I?m so glad I persevered as the massive learning process of oils has been so rewarding. I?m now working on a selection of still life, portraiture and land/seascapes. I love oils. Oh yes? I started drawing and then

I met her on a busy February afternoon at Busch Gardens in Tampa ? a day full of noise, rides, crowds, and motion. In the middle of it all, she felt like a quiet island of grace.Back home, I kept returning to that photo. There was something in the way she held herself ? strength wrapped in calm, maybe even acceptance.I wanted to hold on to that moment.
