Historical Architectural photography can be a great way of exploring and documenting a city, whether it's your home or on holiday. An architectural photographer makes pictures, not takes pictures. Portraits & Graffiti
Saturday 29 March
Digbeth - 10:30am - 2 Hours
Martin Tierney
When it comes to photography, the images can either be dull and uninteresting or thought-provoking and amazing. This is especially true for striking portraits, which require a combination of ingredients to truly captivate the viewer. To keep your readers engaged, it's important to explore different angles within the story and have creative conversations with photographers. A well-composed and beautifully lit portrait can evoke strong emotions in the viewer, well composed, beautifully lit, visually uncluttered and that is until now!!
This week, we are excited to announce that we will be using a new location for our portraiture shoot. Regardless of the weather, our new site is covered, and we are confident that you will be pleased with the top light effect created by its large skylights, but most of all the walls of the location are the best graffiti you will find anywhere in the city.
As an added bounce we will also visit the Digbeth Community Gardens just up the road and off Shaw's passage Birmingham B5 5TH.

Backlighting, Bokeh and Bursts
Saturday 26 April
Russell Rd, Moseley, Birmingham - 10:30am - 2 Hours
Martin Tierney
We will be using various techniques to maximise the behaviour of the light. Backlighting is one of my favourites and can be used for portraiture or nature. Bokeh is Japanese for blur but is a term used for soft out of focus balls of light which can look very pleasing. Burst in this case is star burst which can be achieved when you have strong areas of light and a correct choice of aperture. Use all three to create some amazing compositions.
