Do you gaze up at the night sky with wonder? What about looking up at the stars and thinking, how old that light you are seeing is? Maybe you watch as day and night morph into one, and the stars come out to play. This meetup is going to cover off everything you need to know to start capturing amazing single shot astrophotography and a few extra bits of helpful advice. The learnt basics of capturing a single frame will form the building blocks of your astrophotography journey. Think of this meetup as your first step on that journey or for those who have already started, maybe a road sign. Astrophotography looks amazing and packs a real punch, however, you do not need to spend a fortune to partake. Does gear make a difference, the simple answer is yes, but it is not the deciding factor when it comes to astrophotography. This meetup will look at planning your session, camera settings, required equipment. I want this meetup to help you maximise your current gear as your start capturing milky way shots.

Title or Location: A must have Gustav
Thank you for inviting me to share this work. This piece was inspired by Gustav Klimt?s Adele Bloch-Bauer. His golden phase is inspiring. My work is a combination of acrylic, watercolour crayons, pencil crayons, and oil pastels. I really enjoyed using a combination of media to provide interesting effects and practice new techniques. Many thanks to Joanna Cooke, my art tutor for her inspirational challenges.

As most of my work I started this piece with no idea or concept. Most of my work is intuitive. I just trust and follow the Muses. This time they showed me what the Little Red Riding Hood looks like unattended.

I usually like to paint on location but this day was far too cold. I took the photo to paint in my studio but stood there for a good 30 minutes to soak up the atmosphere so I could try to capture it. It was absolutely freezing and I lost the feeling in my fingers and nose. This painting is done using pure pigment watercolours by AJ Ludlow colours

Title or Location: Bournville Rest house in winter
I took up oil painting after retiring from the the NHS. Bournville looks stunning on a snowy day when the sun is shining. I worked this from a photo I took when the light was perfect. The colours of snow are magical. It is never white. The perspective on the Rest house is quite challenging!

Lincoln?s High Bridge is a well-known landmark, often photographed and occasionally painted. However, it was the industrial scenes and the lesser-seen rear of the bridge that captivated me. While crowds gathered at the waterfront pubs along the front, I found a quiet charm in the stillness behind, where swans drifted peacefully through the evening blue.

As a charcoal (amateur) artist and mainly portraiture, I was challenged by an experienced artist friend to move to colour. I tried acrylic but quickly moved to oils. I guess it was the challenge by my friend who painted with oils and the fact that he wouldn?t settle for anything less. I?m so glad I persevered as the massive learning process of oils has been so rewarding. I?m now working on a selection of still life, portraiture and land/seascapes. I love oils. Oh yes? I started drawing and then

Title or Location: Finding Peace
The location is Budleigh Salterton, Devon, UK.Combination of three different images: the sea, the boat, and the pebbles. The pebbles on the beach typically look uniformly grey. However, for this painting and a series of similar ones, I've exaggerated the colour saturation of the pebbles and super-imposed as the foreground for contrast against the background and middle-ground. Title or Location: Bird
I made this for a lovely friends daughter who had to move from her flat in Edinburgh as the landlord was selling up . It didn?t really give her long to get something else especially in Edinburgh so she moved out the city to a house she could afford . She has a disabled son who she shares the responsibility of looking after with her ex partner. So she had to really start again , so I said I would make her a welcome sign with birds on it as she?s also a DJ in Edinburgh who goes by the name of Bird
