I saw a similar piece somewhere and decided to try this style as opposed to charcoal portraiture. Oils on canvas. A very different path to choose. But I'm loving it so far.

I have moved to UK from Hong Kong for almost three years. And I have started both acrylic paints and Chinese water colour since 2007. However, I had to stop few years later due to personal reasons. After moving to UK, I got depression unfortunately. Therefore, my friends highly recommended me to restart painting again for internal healing. My best friend went to travel in Wales last October. Then , she sent me the photos there and asked me to paint. Her photo became my inspiration of this artwor

Title or Location: Rod Stewart
My old school friend Claire always loved Rod Stewart and she asked me to draw a portrait of him during lock down and I was able to deliver it to her afterwards. She loved it and told me she would hang it in pride of place at home. Just as the second lock down was over it was such a shock to hear Claire had passed away. Rod 's songs were played at her funeral and I was so happy to have lifted her spirits for just a short time.

Title or Location: Departing Moor Street Station
This painting was celebrating the arrival of a delicious dark purple pastel set all the way from the USA. My reference photo was inspired by the abstract pattern of light reflections on the silver train and the glow of the distant block of flats as the sun began to slide into evening. Catching that particular train with its old spacious carriages is my favorite journey to London. Departing a train station always evokes expectation of an adventure, however minor.

Title or Location: "House by the river"
"House by the river" is an original and unique artwork, measuring 31.4 x 23.6in, on canvas. It was inspired by the urban landscape of Burton-on-the-Water, England. Therefore, a village full of charm and the company of people that I love motivated me to reveal to you what the light reflected in my eyes in that spring time. I chose oil paint and brushes because through them I can express the details and share the beauties of the creator universe and make you wish to transcend this universe.

Title or Location: Late Summer in the walled garden, Shugborough
This painting is oil on board using glazing to try and capture the luminous lighting on this late summer's day. I work quickly on location and back in my studio. I feel this helps me convey the atmosphere of a place without getting bogged down with detail. I am fortunate to live close to this National Trust property on the edge of Cannock Chase. I can find so much inspiration in this area I rarely venture much further afield, I feel very relaxed when I am out working in my home patch and hopefu

The owner told me that she wanted something fun, relaxing, and beautiful to adorn her shed. She pointed out the she especially hated the electric meter. About 1/2 way across painting on the shed, she came out with ice tea and asked if I could also include the Blue Ridge Mountains. So, I made the building end (made a corner) and then added some blue ridge mountains off in the background. Finished product has feelings of Greece with Blue Ridge mountains, making it a true fantasy piece!

I painted this recently from a photo I took during a Friends Weekend several years ago. We stopped our bicycles on the bridge and snapped a few photos. The icy cold water was a brilliant blue from the mineral content. The Pine River flows into Vallecito Lake near Bayfield and Durango.
